The Serres Chamber was founded on December 9, 1947, as a provincial, by the private initiative of Serres citizens representatives of the productive classes and in 1952 it was promoted to central. It has about 10,000 members which are divided into three sectors:

- the Commercial (3,600),
- the Manufacturing (1,400)
- and the Services sector (5,000).

He is the official and institutionalized Advisor to the promotion of local development issues. According to its statutes, the Serres Chamber supports and promotes the development of the local business community, offering its members information, protection and modern, to ensure a high competitiveness index. Within its institutional role of decisive importance are the following activities:

- The recording, study, and performance in the decision-making centers (Government, Region, Institutional Bodies, etc.) of the existing socio-economic position of the Prefecture of Serres (e.g. position on per capita GDP, the population, exports, employment and unemployment rates, the absorption of resources from the EU Support Frameworks and the Public Investment Program etc.)
