Our idea

The project's idea grew from the partners' prior experiences, and discussions about the role migrants can play in reducing unemployment in Europe and their potential to become entrepreneurs in their host countries.

A report by the Action Plan for migrants' 2021-2027 found that the unemployment rate for EU-27 native-born citizens was consistently lower than that for migrants (12,3%) and according to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), entrepreneurship is more prevalent in countries with more significant income gaps, like partners ‘countries. According to Mark Hart and Tomasz Mickiewicz's research, migrants are likelier to start businesses than other groups.

RACISM AND INCLUSION PROBLEMS arriving in European countries, the migrants face other equally severe problems. Social exclusion and racism are two of them. Therefore, it is challenging for those people to find new options and new opportunities regarding employment.

We believe that by creating innovative start-ups on Industry 4.0 or artificial intelligence, the project aims to assist migrants entering the labour market. They will continue to develop skills acquired during the project's training by receiving subcontracts from local companies for long-term integration into local society.

Our objectives

The objectives we want to achieve are:

- to give migrants skills in entrepreneurship in innovative sectors (such as industry 4.0 or artificial intelligence), providing them with educational materials made by migrants from the same country of origin (with the same language and culture)

-  to reduce migrants' unemployment rate

- Make migrants feel more included in local society thanks to the connections established between local entrepreneurs and migrants and through the storytelling of migrants.

The sub-objectives are:

a) migrants with entrepreneurial skills

b) migrants with more information about the local territories and opportunities

c) local community more involved in migrants' needs

d) migrants are seen by local entrepreneurs as a strength and not as a weight

The concrete results/output will be:

- videos made by migrants in a Fablab, showing how to create a product with Industry 4.0 (I 4.0) or Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in their mother tongue (for example, how to use a 3D printer or make a laser cut...

- stories told by migrants about their migration, their daily life, and their dreams in their mother tongue with subtitles in the local language.

- social cooperatives created and managed by migrants

-  job offers for migrants/subcontractors for their social enterprise, inserted by local entrepreneurs in the platform dedicated to them

- Network of academic institutions and business organizations to develop synergies among science, education, and entrepreneurship

Our activities

The project is divided in 6 main activities:

1. Analysis and a platform for job match for migrants in I4.0 and A.I. sectors with a list of services/products that local SMEs

can subcontract to social cooperatives.

2. Training migrants on entrepreneurship

3. Video to make products with A.I. or I 4.0 in migrants' original language

5 Mentoring migrants' process of integration and creation of social cooperatives

6 Monitoring services given by enterprises (subcontracting) to social cooperatives of migrants

6. Migrants' storytelling
